07.2006-12.2008

Research assistant (postdoc position), Natural History Museum, Geneva (CH)
(workplace: Institute of Geological Sciences, University of Bern, CH)

Structural geological and material scientific investigations of Greek carbonates. Quantitative microfabric and geochemical analyses with the purpose to develop a new method to identify the source area of antique marbles. Genetic relationships between cathodomicrofabrics and recrystallization of white marbles from Naxos (Greece).

Applied methods: Scanning electron microscopy, cathodoluminescence, electron backscatter diffraction, electron microprobe analyses, laser ablation ICP mass spectrometry, isotope analyses, digital image processing, detailed structural geological field work, optical microscopy.
Responsible for maintenance and support of scanning electron microscope. Teaching (excursions in the Swiss Alps, Molasse, Jura and on Naxos, lectures, practical courses). Development of new microstructural analyzing techniques.

05.2002-06.2006

Research scientist (in collaboration with my Ph.D.), Institute of Geological Sciences, University of Bern (CH)

Applied methods: Scanning electron microscopy, cathodoluminescence, analyses of the crystallographic orientation with electron backscatter diffraction, electron microprobe analyses, isotope analyses, digital image processing, optical microscopy, laser-scanning microscopy.
Detailed structural geological field work in the complete Helvetic realm (µm-km-scale) and investigation of drill cores from the NEAT Lötschbergtunnel. Leading and assistance of excursions and exercise courses. Design of exhibition showcases.
